S.P.I.N (Super Power Inclusion Night) - Tuesdays 4-7 p.m.
This night is the same as Open Shop except the space is only open to wimmin, those who are gender queer, trans, gender variant, and/or anyone else who is excluded by the patriarchy of bike culture and bike shops because of their gender identity. Bring your bike and any questions, and our volunteers will be there to help you out.
Open Shop - Thursdays & Fridays 3-7 p.m.
Open Shop is a time for bike repair and general bike maintenance for folks who have a bicycle. Come by and fix a flat, overhaul your headset, true your wheels, or do just about anything you please to your bike. Bring your bike and one of our knowledgeable volunteers will show you virtually any bicycle maintenance procedure, step-by-step.
Build-a-Bike - Thursdays & Fridays 3-7 p.m.
The Build-a-Bike program is for Denver's bike-less population. Build a bike from the ground up, learning about all the working parts, internal mechanisms, and maintenance along the way. It is also an opportunity for people who want or need a different size or style of bike and need help building one up. If you are interested, come to Derailer during our hours and sign up. With the help of a volunteer you will pick out a frame that fits your body and preference, and begin making it your own. The process will probably take at least two sessions to complete, depending on the state of disrepair the bike is in. We will house the work-in-progress for you, but if you do not show up or call for two weeks in a row, your bike will return to the up-for-grabs pile.
Maintanence Classes - T.B.A.
Every now and then we offer free maintanence classes. There is no set schedule, so please email for more information. The next general mainantance class will start in January; if you are interested, please come by the shop.

What To Expect
Show up anytime we are open, and sign your name up on the relevant list: Build-a-Bike if you need a bike, or Open Shop if you have a bike with you. A volunteer should show you where the lists are, but if not just ask a volunteer. Volunteers work their way down the list, one by one, pairing up with people to help them pick out a bike and do all necessary repairs on it, or fix their bike if they already have one. If you are doing Build-a-Bike, once the bike is fixed up (by you with the help of your volunteer), it is yours to take with you. That's it.
The catches are 1) people begin waiting to get their name on the list as early as 2pm and often there are about 15-20 people on the list by 3:05pm. We frequently only get through about 14 Build A Bikes a day, and even if you are in the top ten, you may have to wait an hour or more to get started. (Sorry, in advance.) 2) The bikes can be in pretty rough shape and it is usually not possible to get them finished in one session, in which case you must leave the bike at Derailer and return another day to finish it. (Sorry, again.)
If you are able to get a bike (no matter how busted) anywhere else and bring it in to work on it, you can sign up on the much shorter and faster Open Shop list and often that is an easier process at Derailer. We also please ask you to keep in mind that we have very limited resources; if you are able to get a used bike we ask that you look into it to save our resources for those folks who may not have their own.
